Hawks Defeat Pioneers
The Hawks hosted the Pioneers in a California Pacific Conference match-up Thursday night in Tobin Gymnasium. The hosts would jump out on Pacific Union 9-0 out of the gate, behind Karlos Grier hot shooting from behind the arc (3 of 4). HNU would turn the fast start into a 15 point and would not look back, in route to the 62-47 victory.

Hawks Drop Third in a Row
Holy Names travelled to Rocklin to take on the Warriors of William Jessup University. In the first match-up HNU completely dominated the Warriors, but lack of execution and multiple mistakes off of turnovers, caused the Hawks the loss 54-60.

Hawks Overcome Push by Bobcats
Oakland, CA - This has been a year of firsts for the Bobcats of UC Merced. They got their first win in program history on December 29th against University of BC, they got their first player of the week award last week (Aki Chambers). Tonight they travelled to Tobin Gymnasium where they were looking for their first California Pacific Conference win. The Hawks jumped on them early, but the Bobcats recovered and it took OT for HNU to not allow UC Merced their first win (81-79).

Hawks took on the Golden Eagles of La Sierra University to finish off their four game road trip. Holy Names jumped out on the Golden Eagles early, but La Sierra would fight back in the second half. The Hawks managed to pull out the victory 79-68.

Hawks opened up their Portland trip with a match up against the Lions of Multnomah Bible College. Last season the Hawks defeated the Lions by a 50 point margin, but that was last season. It seemed as though the Lions remembered that performance and game out to prove themselves.

After leading by five at the midway point of the first half, fourth-ranked Oregon Tech took control to defeat HNU 77-59 in what turned out to be the championship game of the Midland Empire Insurance Classic.

Holy Names traveled to Monterey to take on the Otters of California State University, Monterey Bay. HNU would lead most of the, but the Otters would take the lead with 1:10 left in the game. The Hawks would manage to tie and send the game into overtime. In overtime the Hawks would manage to pull away and win 84-76.

The men's basketball team travelled to Fresno to take on the 25th ranked Sunbirds of Fresno Pacific. HNU would win the tip and score first, but that would be the last time the Hawks would take a lead as the Sunbirds roll past the Hawks 79-58.

Defending California Pacific Conference champion Holy Names University received five first places votes and 45 points in route to capturing the 2011-2012 California Pacific Conference men's basketball coaches' poll. The Hawks took 45 out of a possible 196 points.

Has released its 2011-2012 game schedule. Last season the Hawks finished 20-14 overall and 7-5 in California Pacific Conference play. The Hawks managed to win last 5 games of the season last year having to go on the road to defeat #1 seed Menlo College and #2 California Maritime Academy in the California Pacific Conference tournament Championship.

The NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll was announced Monday by the national office. Although Northwestern (Fla.) received the majority of votes ranking at the top of the pack, the Holy Names' men's team found themselves in good positioning for the season recieving 22 votes total.
