[Women's Basketball] Hawks Take On Chargers In The First Round Of Nationals

Oakland, CA - The Hawks gathered in the dining hall this last Wednesday looking to see who they would face in the first round of the NAIA DII National Tournament Championships. They waited till the last pool was announced to hear that they will be facing the Charges of Briar Cliff University.

Oakland, CA - In a game that was supposed to be a battle last night, turn out to be a display of great team defense by the Hawks. At stake was a bid to the national tournament in Sioux City, Iowa, but someone forgot to tell Menlo. The Oaks were close for the first ten minutes of the game as it would be tied at 10 points apiece. Menlo would only score 4 points in the last 10 minutes of the first half and go down 29-14. The second half would be more of the same and the Hawks would take home the victory 59-40.

Oakland, CA - Yesterday the California Pacific Conference announced its 2010 Women's Basketball All Cal-Pac Honors. For the Hawks it has been a pretty good year finishing 12-0 in conference after fiasco at Cal Maritime and an impressive 21-9 overall record.

From the start the Hawks made it clear they were not going to honor the Warriors seniors' with a victory. Holy Names used their trademark pressure to overpower William Jessup and in the end pull out a 69-60 victory.

Rocklin, CA - In a game where the Hawks got out rebounded by 21 rebounds and shot 17-34 from the charity strike (6-19 in the second half) one would think that the opposing team won by a big margin. This was almost the case, but the Hawks fought hard, and in the end the Warriors of William Jessup University defeat Holy Names 60-68.

Oakland, CA - On a night where the Hawks were honoring two seniors - Ben Clyde and Paul Conyers, The Hawks did not come out to play! The Pioneers jumped out on Holy Names from the start and it took the Hawks 31 minutes to figure out PUC was not going down without a fight. In the end the Hawks woke up and defeated the Pioneers 65-54.

Oakland, CA - Tonight the Hawks honored two seniors - Katie Stiles and Larisa Nakasone. For Larisa it was more of a player/coach position as she ended her season earlier in the year when she had ACL reconstruction, but for Katie Stiles it was a great night. Stiles led the Hawks tonight with 16 points and 7 rebounds, and a victory over the Pioneers of Pacific Union 78-35.

Oakland, Ca - Today's the Hawks hosted #3 Point Loma Nazarene University in a double header at the Stanley Fields on the campus of CSUEB. The first game was over by the third inning as the Sea Lions' Guadagno and Schaefer each hit a home run and each driving in 2 RBI's. The first game finished 10-1 in favor of the Sea-Lions.

HNU men's golf claimed victory for the second year in a row at the CSU San Marcos Invitational, which wrapped up with its third and final round Tuesday morning.

The 12-team field competed at on the par-72, 6,750-yard San Luis Rey Downs Golf Course in Bonsall. Winning the tournament, the hawks led after every round and finished with a three-round team total of 868. Cal Baptist took second with an 883, and CSU San Bernardino placed third with an 892.

Oakland, CA - For what was meant to be a battle for the Hawks last night turned out to be a dominating performance by the Keelhaulers. In the first meeting this year, the game was a back and forth battle for the lead, but in the end the Hawks pressure turned out to be too much for Maritime. The Hawks seemed to have forgotten what got them to an impressive 7-1 record.
