Strength and Conditioning

Protecting the Health and Safety of all student-athletes at Holy Names University is a number one priority. Under the leadership of Associate Director of Athletics J. Omar Sanchez and Head Athletic Trainer Bill Plonsky, ATC., student-athletes at HNU receive the finest treatment before and after athletic related injuries.

To prevent injury and to enhance athletic performance, Coach Sanchez, works with all coaches and student-athletes on a year round strength and conditioning program. Coach Sanchez is also an instructor in the Department of Athletics where he teaches Intro to Strength Training in the Edie Hawkins Fitness Center.

Coach Sanchez develops and implements programs for student-athletes designed to improve speed, agility, strength, flexibility and power. He creates training programs designed to improve the student-athlete as a whole. As an ex-intercollegiate athlete himself, Coach Sanchez believes in working hard and pushing the mind and body to its limits in and outside the weight room. His training sessions help with injury prevention, improve student-athlete performance, and confidence, and serve as a team bonding activity designed to enhance team chemistry.

Coach Sanchez received a BS in Biology from Holy Names and his Master in Education where he studied the "What is the impact of a year round periodization program on overall confidence and fitness of an intercollegiate college men's basketball team."
