Tobin Gym, located on the Holy Names University campus, is the home for HNU Volleyball and Basketball. The facility includes seating for three hundred spectators, a fitness center, team rooms athletic training room, swimming pool, and locker rooms (please see below for more information about facility avaliablity). The Merritt College athletics stadium, located a few miles from the HNU campus, is the home for HNU Soccer. The facility includes seating for seventeen hundred spectators, a state of the art Mondo track, and a fully computerized scoreboard and electronic timing system. Merritt College is located at 12500 Campus Dr., Oakland, CA 94619(Directions).

Thrasher Park, located in San Leandro, CA - 8 miles from the HNU campus, is the home for HNU Softball. The facility includes seating for 500 hundred spectators, lights for evening games, portable home run fence, electric score board, sound system, and ample parking. The Earl Fry Golf Course was originally designed by William Park Bell in 1929 also known as the Alameda Golf Course. It was partially redesigned by Desmond Muirhead in 1967. This parkland course features tree lined fairways, lush greens and water in play on 13 holes. The course is about a 15 minutes drive from campus. (Directions)

Edie Hawkins Health and Fitness Center

Edie Hawkins Fitness Center

The Holy Names University Edie Hawkins Fitness Center is located in Tobin Gymnasium. Featured are two treadmills, four stationary bikes, two stair masters, two elliptical machines, 18 machine weight stations, and a complete line of free weight equipment.

The Fitness Center is free to university students, staff and faculty with identification. Each staff, faculty and student is allowed one guest. This guest must be with you at all times.

Due to class schedules and athletic practice schedules, availability may be limited at certain times. Please call (510) 436-1584 or email sanchez@hnu.edufor questions or concerns.

Anyone utilizing the facilities must have a valid HNU ID card, have proper workout attire, and bring their own towel to use the Fitness Center.

Hours of availability during school year are:

Monday through Thursday: 8:00am - 10:00pm
Friday: 8:00am - 8:00pm
Saturday: 10:00am - 2:00pm
Sunday: 6:00pm - 10:00pm

Hour of availability during Winter Break:

Monday through Friday: 10:00am - 2:00pm
Saturday and Sunday: Closed

Hours of availability during Summer Break:

Monday through Thursday: 10:00am - 8:00pm
Friday: 10:00am - 5:00pm
Saturday and Sunday: Closed

Please be advised that the fitness center will be closed during evening HNU athletic sanctioned events and HNU sanctioned events. Please go to http://www.hnuhawks.comto see dates and times of these events. Also, fitness center closes during school holidays, and hours change during winter and summer breaks.

Pool Use and Aquatics Facilities

HNU Pool

Holy Names University Pool has Open Swim daily (August-November, April-June) for HNU students, faculty and staff. HNU also has outside organizations that use the pool during the course of any given week during the year, as well. HNU's pool is 25 yards, with six-lanes, at a consistent temperature of 78-80 degrees Fahrenheit and an increasing depth of 4' to 11'. The pool is used for competitive meets, as well as team practices. The following are some of the groups that utilize HNU's pool:

Fall Open Swim Hours:

Monday through Friday: 12:30pm - 2:00pm
Saturday and Sunday: 12:00pm - 3:00pm

POOL CLOSED FOR WINTER

Summer Open Swim Hours:

The pool will be CLOSED for deck resurfacing the week of May 23, and will reopen, hopefully, on Monday, May 30.
