2011 Women's Cross Country Coaches
Randy Rau - Head Coach - 1st Season
 
Head Coach, Randy Rau joins Hawk Athletics with several year of experience coaching men and women as they excel athletically and academically. Prior to joining HNU, Rau coached at St. Mary's College (199-2010) and Dominican College (1992-1998) and ran for the Ohio State Bucks after managing the team (1982-1984).
 
During his time at St. Mary's student athletes earned four All-WCC selections, a freshman of the year honor, and five honorable mention accolades. The men's team broke the programs record landing 29 spots of 30 for the fastest times in the history of St. Mary's cross country program. In addition, Rau ensured academic excellence guiding his teams to be named Academic All-Americans in 2001 and 2002.
 
Prior to his stint with the St. Mary's Gaels he served as the Head Coach at Dominican College from 1992-98. Rau is responsible for the initiation of this program in 1992. Rau lead Dominican to the NAIA National Championships five of seven years. At Dominican Rau trained four Academic All- Americans, had seven men qualify for nationals individually, 13 All-American conference runners and pushed his women's team to qualify for nationals in 1997 and 1998. Rau also earned the Pacific Coast Conference's Coach of the Year Award in 1997 and 1998.
 

Rau has an undergraduate degree in Physical Education from Ohio State University and a Master degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Exercise/ Sports Facilities Management from San Francisco States. Coach Rau holds certifications in first Aid and CPR and K-12 teaching credentials. He continues to be an avid runner while enjoying outdoor activities; skiing, hiking, and traveling.
