Oakland, CA - The Hawks came out tonight focused on beating PUC, and that is exactly what they did. The Pioneers had trouble all night trying to get kills as they finished the game with only 6 kills on 42 attempts. The Hawks were victorious tonight 25-11, 25-9, and 25-11.
Leading the Pioneers was JoAnn Mauries with only 2 kills on 16 attempts. Amanda Richards did manage to dig 12 balls. This was not the same Pioneer who played the Hawks only last week. Nonetheless, this is a much improved Pioneers team and with a young team they will look to improve next year.

For the Hawks the duo of Ashley Nickell and Rebecca Chase combined for 20 kills on 43 attempts. Chase also added 15 assist and 10 digs. Natalie Kasbarian did manage to dish out 17 assist of her own and Kayla Coleman added 21 digs on the night.

Next for the Hawks is Simpson University. The Red Hawks surprised the Warriors of William Jessup tonight at the Warrior Stadium. The Warriors who were expected to win beat the Hawks just this last Saturday, but like they say in Coaching "the post season is another season, you got to be ready to play." Seems like the Warriors overlooked the Red Hawks! The Red Hawks get the opportunity to do the same to the Hawks. The Hawks did sweep the Red Hawks this year in conference, and now they will look to win for a third time. The Red Hawks are led by junior Kelly Brown and freshman Kristina Gibson who on the year had 248 kills on 920 attempts. Senior setter Nicole Eileen leads the team in assist with 273 and Kristina Gibson also leads them in digs with 203.

Game time is 7 pm tomorrow in Tobin Gymnasium. Winner will have the opportunity to take on Menlo College on Saturday, November 14, 2009 for a bid to the National Tournament.

Come out and support your Hawks!
