Ariel Carmichael through the block!
Ariel Carmichael through the block!
Angwin, CA - Coming into this last week of Cal Pac play the Hawks came in struggling, as illness were going around the team prohibiting the Hawks from practicing. They travelled to Angwin to take on the Pioneers of Pacific Union College.
Though a much improved team this year the Hawks have never dropped a game to the Pioneers. In the first game the Hawks looked like they had not practice in a couple of days, and the Pioneers took advantage of that and won their first game ever against HNU. That's all the Hawks would need because the next three games the Hawks came out swinging. They beat the Pioneers the next three games winning the match 17-25, 25-13, 25-14, 25-22.

Leading the Pioneers was Heather Jacobson with 8 kills on 28 attempts. Also chipping in with 19 assist was setter Tiffany Jacobson.Jessica Simmons and Amanda Richards combined for 37 of the teams 55 digs.

For the Hawks it was once again the duo of Rebecca Chase and Ashley Nickell. Chase finished the game with an impressive 15 kills on 41 attempts, 16 assist, 2 serve aces, and 11 digs. Nickell on the other hand had 11 kills on 30 attempts and 16 digs. Notably, Ariel Carmichael added 8 kills on 34 attempts and 14 digs of her own. Natalie Kasbarian lead all with 23 assist on the match.

Next for the Hawks is William Jessup University. The Hawks beat the Warriors back on October 16th in four games. Game will be November 7, 2009 at 7:00 pm in Rocklin, CA. Let's Go Hawks!
