Holy Names Men's and Women's Basketball will begin their conference schedule this week. Coach Catherria Turner and Coach Omar Sanchez are both eager to reclaim Holy Names' California Pacific Conference championship titles in their first year as head coaches. 
Coach Sanchez is leading the men's team which currently holds a 6-10 record. The team earned a big wins in their non-conference season against Biola University, California State University Monterey Bay, and Southern Oregon.
 
Ensuring the team's road to success is Karlos Grier from Bakersfield. The senior Guard holds a current record of 16.88 points per game and a field goal 0.386%. Grier just received Cal Pac honors in December being named Cal Pac Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
 
Another senior, Mike McElroy is also a driving force. McElroy a Point Guard is leading the team in rebounds and assists. He is averaging 4.5 rebounds per game (72 TOT). McElroy totals 87 assists with a 5.44 average.
 
Coach Sanchez looks to secure his first conference win tonight against Willian Jessup University at 7:30PM.
 
Coach Catheria Turner has her team fired up and ready to earn the Cal Pac title. Although the team currently holds a 4-13 record, they are ranked number 1 in the nation in offensive rebounds, number 7 in the nation in total rebounds and number 7 in rebounds per game.
 
The team is being led by senior Point Guard and Captain, Danika Potestio. D. Potestio leads the team in assists averaging 4.06 per game. She also holds her team in steals totaling 31. Danika received Cal Pac honors in November being named Cal Pac Women's Basketball Player of the week.
 
Sophomore, Soulijah Evans is leading the team in points and rebounds. Evans is currently averaging 13 points per game and earns 7.41 rebounds per game.
