Riverside, CA - Hawks took on the Golden Eagles of La Sierra University to finish off their four game road trip. Holy Names jumped out on the Golden Eagles early, but La Sierra would fight back in the second half. The Hawks managed to pull out the victory 79-68.
    
HNU would hold La Sierra to 28 points in the first half with solid defense and great shooting from behind the arch. Holy Names shot 50% from behind the three point line as well as 52% from the field. The Hawks held the Golden Eagles to 32% from the field and did not allow one three in the half.
 
"We should in the half what we can do when we defend and score from our defensive efforts," says Coach Sanchez.
 
The second half would be reversed as La Sierra would come out hot and cut the Hawks 18 point first half lead to 2 at the 10 minute mark. The Golden Eagles would take their first lead of the game at the 7 minute mark, only to have the Hawks take right back and pull away in the end.
 
For the game HNU shot 43% from the field, 40% from behind the arch, and 70% from the charity strike. The Hawks held the Golden Eagles to 43% from the field and 29% from the arch.
 
"I was happy to see us be resilient tonight. La Sierra fought back and we were able to not panic and find a way to win. It was good to finish this trip on a win," added Coach Sanchez.
 
Three finished in double figures for the Golden Eagles, Aaron Snyder finished with 21 points, Joshua Zonker 17 points and Conner Madden added 10 points.
 
For the Hawks it was Karlos Grier leading all scores with 29 points. Mike McElroy added 9 points and 12 assists.
 
The Hawks are off on break and will resume play on December 30th against the Argonauts of Notre Dame de Namur University. Come out and Support your Hawks!
