Oakland, CA- The Hawks Softball team helped to clean up our community and Sausal Creek by removing invasive species and trash this weekend.
Extending from the Montclair hills to Dimond Park near Fruitvale Avenue and Macarthur Boulevard is an expanse of wooded open space called Dimond Canyon. Hundreds of cars drive by the canyon on Park Boulevard every day. Only a few enjoy the wildlife of the canyon at its best, by hiking the trails that run through the woodlands.

The women on the team were able to enjoy the crisp morning air in the wilderness helping to nourish this land. The environmental project was led by senior teammate, Samantha Fisher who is also the president of Holy Names' Environmental Club. "I am proud to be coaching these women. They are conscious of the world around them and are invested in the wellness of it," states the team's Head Coach Lisa Thuer.
