Oakland, CA- With determination in their eyes and sporting pink in hopes of bringing awareness to cancer and cancer research the women's soccer team fought the William Jessup Warriors in their first conference match. The Hawks earned a "W" winning 1-0. The match was dedicated to "Kick It For Cancer" a program put in place by the Cancer Research Foundation to raise money towards research and preventative health. 
Both teams rocked it hard in the first half banging the ball from one end of the field to the next. In a cluster of seven fouls called on William Jessup and numerous balls kicked out the Red and White final found an error in the Warriors defense. Senior Kestrel Colomb scored unassisted off a ball mishandled by the William Jessup's goal keeper in the 33rd minute bringing the first half to a close.
 
 In the second half, HNU got a scare in the 48th minute when WJU's number 16, Alyssa Wimmer headed one off the goal post and then took the rebound kicking it right over the goal. However, HNU remained steady overcoming the first few minutes of the second half. Playing together they were able to overcome winning the match 1-0.
 
The Hawks will take on NDNU this Thursday.
