Hawks getting ready for the match.
Oakland, CA - The Hawks took on a much improved Pioneer team tonight in Tobin Gymnasium, but from the start the Hawks came out swinging.  After dropping their last two games to Notre Dame de Namur and UC Santa Cruz the Hawks looked to bounce back against the Pioneers and bounce back is what the Hawks did, winning 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-10).
After dropping game one 25-14, the Pioneers battled in game two keeping it close 25-22.  Game three was a different story, it seemed as though the Hawks took a lot out of them in game two, and the Pioneers could not match the intensity.  Game three the Pioneers were down early 9-0 and ended the match 25-10.  Though a much improved Pioneer team; the Hawks seemed too much in the end.

Leading the Hawks were junior Ariel Carmichael and sophomore Ashley Nickel with 10 kills each on 14 and 20 attempts respectively.  Also, freshman Mariah Christensen led the Hawks with 14 assist and junior libero Kayla Coleman added 14 digs.

The Hawks go to 4-1 in conference and 6-12 overall.  As of tonight the Hawks are tied for second place in the Cal Pac standings with William Jessup University who tonight lost to undefeated Menlo College.

Next for the Hawks is Div. II neighbor The Academy of Art University - San Francisco.  Game time is at 7PM.  Last year the Hawks faced the Urban Knights in their inaugural season and lost 0-3.  Come out and support your Hawks!
