Stanislaus, Ca- The Holy Names University Men's soccer team struggle on their second game of Pre-Season to NCAA Div 2 Cal State Stanislaus on Friday, August 27th. The game was played under the crucial conditions of 100 degrees weather, and consisted of two forty-five minutes half's. Stanislaus, Ca- The Holy Names University Men's soccer team struggle on their second game of Pre-Season to NCAA Div 2 Cal State Stanislaus on Friday, August 27th. The game was played under the crucial conditions of 100 degrees weather, and consisted of two forty-five minutes half's. The Hawks gave up a goal in the first half, and two at the end of the second half.
The Warrior began the game applying high pressure forcing the Hawks to loose possession of the ball. The Holy Names got out number in the first half by the Warrior with 6 shots on target. The game took a big turn around when forward Tom Davies got tackle from behind by a Warrior defender making Tom loose balance landing with his shoulder. Tom Davies landing cost him a dislocation to the left shoulder. The Holy Names defense broke down after holding the warrior from scoring for thirty minutes. Warrior Mid-Fielder Andres Zamora found the net after a 20 yard shot. The first half ended with the lead to the Warrior 1-0 over the Hawks.
Second half started with Warrior keeping the Hawks in their half. Warrior organized team created several chances to obtain a second goal, but goalkeeper Lars Johansen denied does chances with brilliant saves. The Hawks continue struggling on keeping possession of the ball. Player Diego Orellana created a chance for Holy Names with a breakway dribbling through several Warrior player finding him self in front of the goal and getting a shot wide to the left of the goal. The holy Names defense could not resist the Warrior powerful offense and broke down in the last three minutes. The Hawks gave up a second goal in the 43rd minute and a third goal in the 45th minute. The game ended in favor of Warrior 3-0 victory over the Holy Names Hawks.
