Oakland, CA - Hawks hosted the Warriors in an exhibition match on Friday. After playing a tough first game the Warriors came back to beat the Hawks 4-1 (25-22, 12-25, 21-25, 21-25). 
The Hawks came out to play hard in their first home match of the year taking on the CSU Stanislaus. Although this was only an exhibition game both teams came out with intensity and enthusiasm.
 
The Hawks played an aggressive first match beating the Warriors 25-22. Both the returners and the new recruits sparked up the court with kills and chemistry. Although HNU had a powerful first set the Warriors stepped on the court ready to turn the table.
 
They Warriors began the second set with a seven point lead. Although the Hawks fought hard to get it they could not get out of the slump. Ultimately the lost of the second set did not come down to errors but that the warriors hit over 0.800 percent in the second game. Stanislaus then went on a run and went on to win the set 12-25.
 
The third and four set were intense and strong games for both the teams which ended in a 21-25, defeat against the Hawks.
 
The Hawks were lead by Samantha Miller who had 12 kills and 12 defensive digs with only 1 ball handling error. Ashley Nickell had 11 kills and Britney Silvia followed with 10 kills. The Hawks libero also had a stood out on the court with 17 digs.
 
The warriors outside hitter Eva Chafeh carried her team with 12 kills out of her 15 total attempts. Right behind Chafeh followed Lianne Vicchio with 11 kills. The Warriors setter Nicki Brown tallied up the night with a total of 39 assists. The warriors had an outstanding kill percentage leaving them with hitting over 0.375 in three of the four matches.
 
The Holy Names Univserity Hawks now with a 1-4 record will take on Oregon Institute of Technology on Sunday August, 29 in the Tobin Gym at 12pm.  This will be the Hawks home season opener.
