Oakland, CA - Over the last four years the Hawks golf program has been pretty successful. They have won three California Pacific Conference titles; have appeared in three National tournaments. Coach Stone was a great part of those four years as Coach Hutton's right hand man. Now it is time for Coach Stone to step into the main role and continue the success of the program.
Coach Stone played golf at Fresno State University from 1990-1993 where he graduated with a Criminology Degree. The Bulldog program was ranked as high as #5 in the Nation during Stone's time there. From 1994-1997 played professionally on the Canadian, Asian and HGT Tours and since has been teaching golf full time. Stone has worked with some of the top instructors in the country in Hank Haney, Adam Schrieber and Stan Sayer.
"I am excited about taking the position. I want to continue what we have been doing over the last 4 years," says Coach Stone about taking the new position.
One of the things that are important to Coach Stone is, "graduating student-athletes!" This is something that the Hawks do very well in its 15 year existence.
Some of Erik Stone's personal goals include: "finishing better than 5th at Nationals next year, and to make sure his student-athletes maintain good grades."
"Eric has been a vital part of the Men's Golf program at HNU over the past four years, he has worked closely with Coach Hutton to build one of the best golf programs in the Country. This was a natural transition and one will allow Men's Golf to continue along the path of academic and athletic success that we have come to expect," says Athletic Director Dennis Jones.
Erik Stone will begin his journey on August 1, 2010. Coach Stone is married to Diana Stone and has one child, Kailer Stone.
