Oakland, CA - Holy Names University Women's Basketball Coach Steve Spencer announced the addition of Oakland native Annie Mahaney to program for the 2010-2011 season.
Mahaney, a graduate of Bishop O'Dowd High School just down the hill from the Holy Names campus, transfers in from Monterey Peninsula College. The 5-11, sophomore forward spent a redshirt year at CSU Monterey Bay immediately following high school before transferring to MPC where she was a H.M. All-Coast Conference selection for Coach Wendy Bates. Mahaney averaged 9 points and 5 rebounds a game and helped her team to a 17-11 record and a 3rd place finish in the Coast Conference's South Division last season.

"We are excited to add Annie to the mix", said Coach Spencer. "We think she will be a key contributor, she is very skilled. Not only does she fill a need of ours but she comes from such great programs, she's been so well coached. We feel blessed, we feel like she's coming home.

Mahaney carries a 3.5 GPA and will major in Sports Biology at Holy Names. She joins a Holy Names program that went 23-10 last season including 12-0 in California Pacific Conference play earning Holy Names their third straight Cal Pac Championship and the conference's automatic bid into the NAIA D-2 National Tournament. The Hawks bowed out in the first round of the tournament to Briar Cliff University (IA) 85-67. Last year marked the program's 10th Cal Pac Championship and 11th overall National Tournament appearance.
