Senior Garrett True Caps Off a Great Final Year with a 6th Place Finish
Silvis, Ill - As the 2010 NAIA Men's Golf National Championship wrapped up Friday, HNU finished fifth place. No. 1-ranked Oklahoma City won the championship, shooting a 288 today to finish with an 1,184, five strokes ahead of last year's champ Oklahoma Christian.

The Hawks shot a 292 in the fourth and final round of the national tournament carding a 1,195 (296-302-305-292) for the 72-hole tournament.

"The guys didn't have it this week, but fought hard to finish in the top five," said head coach Greg Hutton, "we were right there all the way to the end, but ran out of holes."

Malone's Justin Lower shot an even par 71 for the second consecutive day, shooting a 280 (68-70-71-71) to claim the individual title. His team finished third.

Garrett True finished the day with a 71 and finished the tournament tied in 6th place with a 299 (72-72-75-71). Solid play all week landed True on the all tournament team which rewards the top 15 individuals.

Stephen Edman shot a 73 in the final round to finish tied for 31st place with a 301 (75-78-74-73).

Robbie Bendorf (74-77-77-75) and Austin Fink (74-77-79-73) finished tied for 38th place with a four day total of 303.

Daren Johnson shot a 76 in the final round to finish tied for 93rd place, finishing  the tournament with a 322 (87-76-83-77).

"Im so proud of these guys, this has been a special year for these guys," said Hutton. "These guys are the reason that the Hawks are now considered one of the top programs in the country."
