Senior Garrett True Named Conference Player of the Year

Ranked 5th in the nation, the Hawks wrapped up regular season play Thursday, capturing their 8th win at the Cal Pac Conference Championship. In 13 events, the Hawks have proved worthy of a top 5 national ranking, finishing 2nd or better in 10 of the 13 events played. Along with an impressive team, a number of Hawks have had great individual seasons.

Senior Garrett True concluded his regular season with ten top 10 finishes including a 2nd place finish at Pt Loma and a 1st place finish at the CBU Spring Break Intercollegiate in a field of more than 50 of the best players in the NAIA. True captured player of the year honors at Thursday's Conference Championship.

Junior Stephen Edman earned medalist honors at the Interwest Wildcat Classic hosted by Chico State, along with 2nd place finishes at The Mustang Invitational and SNU Arizona Intercollegiate.

Robbie Bendorf, David Brown, Patrick Byrne, Austin Fink, Darren Johnson and Trevor Jones also contributed individually to the team's success throughout the season. Bendorf, Fink and Johnson were also named to the all-conference team.

The Hawks will head to the national tournament qualifier on April 19th at La Purisma Golf Course in Lompoc, CA. They will look to win for the 9th time this season and earn a bid to the 2010 National Championship. With a field including 3 teams ranked in the top 25 nationally, the Hawks will definitely have to step up their game. HNU coach Greg Hutton said, "We have one of the deepest rosters in the country from top to bottom. If our guys can go out and avoid unnecessary mistakes they have a great chance of winning the tournament. I believe the seniors will go out and set the tone for the rest of the team."
