Oakland, CA - Yesterday the California Pacific Conference announced its 2010 Women's Basketball All Cal-Pac Honors. For the Hawks it has been a pretty good year finishing 12-0 in conference after fiasco at Cal Maritime and an impressive 21-9 overall record.
With such impressive team accolades, one would expect the Hawks to have some pretty impressive players. Holy Names took the Player of the year award and finished with three players on the first team all conference and one honorable mention.
The Player of the Year award went to a pretty special player for the Hawks, Lesley Vodicska. Player of the Year Lesley Vodicska averages 9.47 points, 4.67 rebounds, 3.50 assist, and 4.47 steals per game. Vodicska is currently #2 in the country in total assists (139) and #3 in steals per game (4.47).
"Lesley really is a coach's dream. She is already one of the best to come through this program. She makes the game easier to coach, more fun to coach. Our team would not be where we are today without her contributions." says Coach Spencer.
In total the Hawks had three players named to all the All Conference Team. Sarah Henning, Jamie-Leigh Ronolo, and Lesley Vodicska were named. Sarah Henning finished the year averaging 7.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Jamie-Leigh Ronolo led the Hawks in scoring with 12.9 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals per game.
Marie Vodicska was named to the honorable mention team.
Come out and support the Hawks as they take on the Keelhaulers of California State University, Maritime on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 6pm in Tobin Gymnasium.
