Oakland, CA - Yesterday the California Pacific Conference announced its 2010 All Cal-Pac honors. Leading the way the Hawks is sophomore forward David Scott with New Comer of the Year honors.
Scott came to us from San Antonio, Texas from Navarro Junior College where he played for one season before transferring to Holy Names. Ever since he stepped on this campus he has been an outstanding player. This year he led the California Pacific Conference in scoring with 17 points a game and he also added 5.8 rebounds. As a force inside for the Hawks, Scott scored on 56% of his field goal attempts, connected on 41% from the arc, and finished 68% of his free throws.

"David was by far our most consistent offensive player all year. I look forward to seeing him continue to grow as a basketball player and seeing him evolve into a more well-rounded basketball player." Coach Jones mentioned.

Making honorable mention was juniors Trey Davis, Joshua Smith, and Johnas Street.

Trey Davis came to Holy Names from Solano College in Fairfield, CA. As a starting point guard for the Hawks, Davis was good at the intangibles. He helped lead the Hawks on the floor and did a great job doing it.

Joshua Smith transferred from California Baptist University, and has played a vital role in the Hawks success this year. With his versatility he was able to cause so many mismatches this year for opponents. On the year he shot 39% from the arc and 41% from the field. He also led the Holy Names in free throw percentage with 76%. He finished with 11.4 points a game and 4.8 rebounds.

Lastly, Johnas Street transferred from William Jessup University. After being out of basketball for more than two years, it took some time for Johnas to learn his potential. He was a great scorer for the Hawks. He finished the year shooting 36% from arc on a team leading 176 attempts, 38% from the field and 63% from the line. Johnas finished the year with 12.2 points and 4.0 rebounds a game.

The Hawks finished the year with an improved 9-3 conference record, 11-20 overall record and Co-Champions in the California Pacific Conference.

This was a learning year for the Hawks and with these four starters returning next year they will play a vital role in the Hawks success next year.
