Rocklin, CA - Tonight the Hawks took on the Warriors of William Jessup University on their senior night. From the start the Hawks made it clear they were not going to honor the Warriors seniors' with a victory. Holy Names used their trademark pressure to overpower William Jessup and in the end pull out a 69-60 victory.
The Hawks who are currently ranked #23 in the country have managed to find an identity. With much guard pressure and dribble penetration, Holy Names has managed to give teams lots of problems. With sophomore point guard Lesley Vodicska, who currently is #2 in the country in steals, leading the way on defense and junior guard Jamie-Leigh Ronolo, second leading scorer in the Cal Pac, the Hawks are tough to beat.

This year Holy Names is #5 in the country in field goal percent defense, #6 in total steals, #7 in 3-point field goal defense, and #9 in steals per game. With these hard-hitting defensive stats it is tough to beat the Hawks. Something the Warriors learned first-hand on Saturday night.

The Warriors were held to 33% shooting from the field, 36% from the arch and 66% from the charity strike. It was Nicole Aboumrad and Maria Viola who led William Jessup with 11 points each. Aleta Stamps also chipped in with 10 points.

Three Hawks finished the game in double figures, lead by junior forward Sarah Henning who finished the night with 16 points and 8 rebounds.

With the win the Hawks finish the regular season 12-0 in conference and 21-9 overall.

Next for the Hawks is a first round bye in the California Pacific Conference Tournament. They will face the winner of #4 William Jessup vs. #5 Cal Maritime on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 6pm in Tobin Gymnasium.
