Scotts Valley, CA - After blowing out the Bruins in the first round of conference by 30 points, the Hawks came into tonight's game knowing that the Bruins were going to fight tooth and nail to not allow that to happen again. Even with their best player out for the remainder of the year, the Bruins did just that! In the end Holy Names would prove to be too much for the Bruins and take home a road victory 83-75.
At the end of the first half it was Bethany who would have a two point lead. The Bruins caused many problems for the Hawks with lots of dribble penetration and 14 free throw attempts.

The Hawks managed to get lead right away in the second half and would not lose it the rest of the way. With a dominant performance by David Scott who was perfect from the field on the night, the Hawks were able to always have an answer. By the 12 minute mark Holy Names built a 12 point lead, but Bethany would serge forward and cut it to as much as 2 late in the half. Fortunately for the Hawks they were able to get extra possession late in the game from offensive rebounds at the free throw line.

Bethany was lead by Joey Kreuter and James Jansen with 18 points each and they combined for 19 points. Jason Maples also contributed with 11 points and 5 rebounds.

For Holy Names it was David Scott who finished with a game high 20 points. Johnas Street and Ben Clyde would round off the double figure scoring with 17 and 11 points respectively.

With the win the Hawks move to 7-1 in conference and set up a battle for first place in conference play against the Keelhaulers of Cal Maritime.

Game is Saturday February 6, 2010 at 4pm.
