Atherton, CA - After building a 16 point lead in the first half and increasing it to as much as 21 in the second half, Holy Names was able to hold off the Oaks 69-61. 
Holy Names would shoot 48% from the field, 80% from the arch and 82% from the free throw line in the first half and go up on Menlo by 16. Jamie-Leigh Ronolo's 16 points would help the Hawks build that lead. Not only were the Hawks able to score frequently, but would hold the Oaks to 26% from the field, 28 from the 3 point line and a low 58% from the charity strike.
 
In the second half Holy Names would increase their lead to 21 points. Just when you thought the Oaks were ready to throw up the white flag, they awaken. From the 7:50 mark to the 5:14 mark the Oaks would go on a 10-0 run, but it was a little too late as the Hawks were able to hit free throws and walk away with a 9 point lead.
 
Leading Menlo on the night was Katelyn Guild with 14 points and game high 12 rebounds. Senoj Jones and Stephanie Truong also chipped in with a combined 26 points and 7 rebounds.
 
For Holy Names, it was Jamie-Leigh Ronolo with 20 points. Sarah Henning finished the game with a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
 
With the win the Hawks move to 6-1 in conference play and 15-10 overall.
 
Next for the Hawks is the Bruins of Bethany University. Game is Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 5:30pm.
