The 2009 California Pacific Conference Champions
Oakland, CA - Melanie Gregor, Holy Names University's Head Coach for Softball, released the Hawks 2010 playing schedule today.
Among the teams the 2009 California Pacific Champion Hawks will face this Spring are local competitor Patten University to open the 2010 season February 13, and perennially ranked in the top 5 of the NAIA, Point Loma Nazarene for HNU's home opener on February 15. Other teams the Hawks are playing this season include NAIA #1 ranked and National Softball Champions California Baptist University, in addition to other top 25 ranked teams like Concordia (CA), and CSU-San Marcos. Additional teams scheduled to meet HNU have received votes for ranking in 2009, Southern Oregon University, Concordia (OR) and Ohio Institute of Technology. Joining the fray will be NCAA Div. II competitor and across-the-bay rival Academy of Art University SF.

This season's schedule is one of the most ambitious so far for Holy Names since initiating in 2008, with three tournament appearances (two in LA and one at Southern Oregon) and makes for a real character building pre-season before the regular Cal Pac season of competition begins on March 17 against William Jessup University. Added to the Cal Pac line-up in 2010 will be University of Great Fall (MT) which joins the five Cal Pac softball teams (Bethany University, Holy Names University, Menlo College, Simpson University and William Jessup University) for a competitive grouping that will send a contender to the 2010 NAIA National Softball Championships in Decatur, AL on May 20-26.
