Oakland, CA - The Hawks took on the Banana Slugs of UC Santa Cruz in a non-conference match. Santa Cruz would make it a good game, but Holy Names would find a way and squeeze out the victory 57-22.
The first half began with the Hawks up 4-0, but the Slugs would quickly respond with back to back field goals. The first half was a battle between the two teams with 3 ties in the game. Tied at 21 apiece with 4:09 left in the half the Hawks closed out the half on an 8-1 run and go into halftime up 7.

Holy Names opened up the second half building on their 7 point lead. The Hawks managed to go up as much as 11 points in the half, but Santa Cruz would not go away. Between the lack of execution and turnovers the slugs capitalized and were able to crawl back into the game. With 8:22 left the Slugs cut the lead to 4 (46-42). The Hawks would respond by increasing pressure and exploiting the Slugs weakness. Holy Names managed to close the game out and take home a 5 point victory.
