San Rafael, CA - The Hawks travelled on Tuesday to take on an old time rival the Penguins of Dominican University, who have moved on from the Cal Pac to play in the Div. II Pac West. 
The first half started with the Hawks jumping out to a 6-0 lead before the Penguins would score their first basket. The Hawks would build on their lead (11-18) with a jumper from Danika Potestio with 12:44 left in the first half. The Penguin would make a run as they would cut the lead to 4 (24-20) with 9:11 left in the first half. The Hawks would go into halftime with a 37-33 lead.
 
The second half would start with an exchange of baskets between the two teams. At the 17:19 mark the Hawks would begin their 10-0 run. At the 15:06 mark the Penguins would finally score off a jumper by Kelsey Janusch. The game would continue with the Hawks and Penguins exchanging baskets, and the Hawks keeping their 10 point lead. With 8:35 the Penguins would cut the lead to 59-51. The Penguins would put up a fight and cut the lead to 60-58 with 5:05 left in the game. Melissa Wise would hit a jumper and tie the game at 60 apiece. Hawks' Sarah Henning would answer with a jumper of her own and retake the lead 62-60. After a foul by Sarah Henning, Penguins' Alisha Flaaten would hit two free throws and tie the game for a second time 62 all. The Penguins would manage to take a 3 point lead with 1:55 left in the game. After a pair of free throws by Marie Vodicska the Hawks would cut the lead to 65-66. With :10 left in the game it was Alisha Flaaten who would go to the line and hit another pair of free throws to put the Penguins up 67-68. The Hawks with a sense of urgency get the ball up the floor and junior standout Jamie-Leigh Ronolo would hit a jumper with: 02 left in the game and take the lead for good 69-68 and take home the victory.
 
The Penguins were led by Alisha Flaaten with 17 points on the night. Raquel Gomes would chip in with another 11.
 
The Hawks finished the game with three in double figures, led by sophomore Witne' Blackburn with 16 points. Freshman Lesley Vodicska and junior Suman Bains would round off the double figure scoring with 11 and 12 points respectively.
 
With the win the Hawks move to 4-6 overall.
 
Next for the Hawks they will travel to Southern California to take on Div. III Chapman University and La Sierra University.
