Oakland, CA - The first game of the Women's Thanksgiving classic was between the Oaks of Menlo College and the Eagles of Concordia University. The Oaks would fall behind early in the first half as Concordia guard play was hard to stop of penetration. The Oaks would fight back and at half would cut the Eagles 14 point lead down to 6. Half time score ended up with the Eagles up 36-30. 
In the second half the Eagles would increase there to 11. After a 4 minute drought by both teams, the Oaks would manage to cut the lead to 5 with 12:05 left in the game. This would be as close as the Oaks would get as the Eagles responded with back to back 3 point basket by Tyler Howard. The Eagles would increase their lead by as much as 14 and finish the Oaks by a score of 67-55.
 
Leading the Oaks on the day was senior guard Carlie Stone and senior forward Liane Kobori who each scored 13 points. Senior forward Katelyn Guild also chipped in with a game high 11 boards. For the Eagles it was junior guard Nicole Flu with a game high 20 points.
 
On the night the Oaks were 22-58 (37%) from the field, 5-16 (31%) from the arch and 6-8 (75%) from the free throw line. The Eagles were 25-62 (40%) form the field, 8-16 (50%) from the arch, and 9-16 (56%) from the free throw line.
 
In the second game the Hawks took on the Cougars of Azusa Pacific University. The Hawks, who are used to playing fast, encountered problems with the Cougars pressing to start the game. The Cougars jumped out to a 4-11 lead to start the half and after a bonus free throw made by Alex Moore-Porter, the Hawks would respond with a 4-0 run. The Cougars then responded with a 21-9 run of their own. The half finished with the Hawks' 7-2 run to cut the Cougars lead to 12 (22-34).
 
In the second half the Cougars would come out strong as they increased their lead to 18. After back to back basket by Suman Bains and Jamie-Leigh Ronolo the Hawks would cut the lead to 13. The Hawks would cut the lead to four (52-56) before the Cougars 15-8 run to close the game and take home the win 60-71.
 
The Cougars were led by juniors Kristie Hala'ufia and Alex Moore-Porter who on the night scored 23 and 21 points respectively.
 
For the Hawks, freshman Lesley Vodiscka and junior Jamie-Leigh Ronolo each scored 15 points on the night. With the loss the Hawks drop to 3-5 on the year.
 
Next the Hawks take on the Eagles of Concordia University. The Hawks played the Eagles last week in Southern California in a tough loss 70-77. Game will be tomorrow night at 6pm in Tobin Gymnasium. This will conclude the Hawks games in the Thanksgiving Classic.
