Oakland, CA - Tonight was the first night of the Holy Names University Thanksgiving Classic. In the first game the Keelhaulers of California State University, Maritime took on the Knights of Warner Pacific. Coming into tonight the Knights are ranked *18 in the country, but the Keelhaulers did not mind. 
In the first half it was the Knights who jumped out on the Keelhaulers 4-10. The Keelhaulers would respond with an 8-2 run to tie the game at 12-12. Haven Piatt would then score a three pointer to take the lead 15-12.The Knight would try and answer, but with solid defense and good execution on the offensive side from the Keelhaulers they would go into halftime up 36-27.
 
In the second half the Knight would answer with an 11-2 run to tie the game at 38. The remainder of the half would be an exchange of baskets with each team never having more than an 8 point lead. With 5:12 left in the game it would be the Keelhaulers who would finish the game on a 17-11 run and taking home the win against the Knights 70-64.
 
The Keelhaulers were led Michael Weimer who on the night finished with game high 17 points. For the Knights it was Kaylone Riley who finished the game with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 block shots.
 
In the second game the Hawks would face the Golden Eagles of John Brown University. The Golden Eagles would start the game on a 5-0 run, only to see the Hawks tie the game at 10-10. This would be the closest the Hawks would get to tie or taking the lead.John Brown would finish the half on a 37-17 point run.
 
The second half would be more of the same for the Golden Eagles as they got to the rim at will and on the night go to the free throw line 33 times. The Hawks had many opportunities to give up their body and create their own luck, but chose to bail the Golden Eagles out each time. With 12:20 to go in the half the Hawks were down by the score of 37-70. The Hawks then decided to press and trap in the full court and from then on finished the game on a 40-17. Unfortunately for the Hawks they ran out of time and dropped their second straight 77-87.
 
On the night the Golden Eagles shot the ball 28-51 (54%) from the field 10-21 (47%) from the arch and 21-32 (65%) from the free throw line. The Hawks on the other hand shot 26-62 (41%) from the field, 5-19 form the arch and 20-30 (66%) from the free throw line.
 
Leading the Golden Eagles was guard Abel Galliquez with 24 points and Davaughn Jackson also chipped in with 22. For the Hawks it is once again sophomore David Scoot who on the night had game high 25 points and 7 rebs.
 
With the loss the Hawks drop to 1-7 overall while the Golden Eagles improve to 7-0 on the year. 
 
Next for the Hawks is #18 Warner Pacific Univeristy tomorrow night at 8pm.
