Atherton, CA - With a bid to the national tournament at hand, the Hawks looked to come in to tonight's contest with Hopes of finally beating Menlo. Over the last three seasons the Oaks have swept the Hawks in every game. Tonight was no different; they beat the Hawks in three 22-25, 16-25, and 28-30.
The Oaks who swept everyone in the California Pacific Conference this year were not as talented as they have been in recent years. What they have was confidence and swagger, something the Hawks seem to lack this year. On paper the Hawks were the most talented team in conference, but talent does not mean you are going to win. You have to go out and compete every night and improve every game.

The Hawks lose their starting and back up middle blockers (Kendra Vasquez and Michele Myers), so they will return next year with 7 seniors looking to be more composed and experienced. They will also look to bring in some impactful middles to strength the Hawks hitting attacks. The duo of opposite and outside hitter Ashley Nickell and Rebecca Chase will return next year looking for that conference championship.

On the night the Hawks were led by junior Britney Silvia who on the night had 10 kills on 32 attempts. Setter Natalie Kasbarian also chipped in with 19 assist. The duo of Ashley Nickell and Rebecca Chase combined for a season low 12 kills on 39 attempts and 11 digs; definitely not worthy of a championship performance.

With the loss the Hawks drop to 13-17 overall and finish 9-3 in California Pacific Conference play.
