Klamath Falls, OR - After playing #18 Southern Oregon University last night and losing in OT by three the Hawks seemed to have not recovered from the tough loss. The Owls took advantage of that hammering the Hawks 60-86.
The Owls shot 48.6% from the field on 23-of-47 shooting, including 11-for-23 from long range, while holding HNU to 23-of-66 from the floor and only 34.8%. The Owls held a 45-to-30 edge on the boards and were once again superb from the free throw line, hitting on 29-for-33, to help preserve the win.

Four Owls finished the night in double figures with Kellie Morey leading Tech with a game-high 19 points. Morey added four rebounds and three assists in the win. Lisa Busch netted 17 points to go with four rebounds.

Brittany Cherry knocked in 13 points; seven of those coming from the charity stripe, and grabbed seven rebounds. Nicole Morgan added 10 points, while Crystal Idrogo, Kelsey New and Jazzy McDaniel finished with eight points each. McDaniel finished the night grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds and blocked four HNU shots.

For the Hawks, Whitney Blackburn notched 14 points, followed by Lesley Vodiscka with seven. Blackburn and Suman Bains grabbed a team-high six boards.

The Hawks strolled out to an early 10-4 lead before Tech was able to find their legs.

An Owl 16-3 run, capped by a Brittany Cherry jumper, gave Tech a comfortable 20-13 advantage. A Lisa Busch 3-pointer gave the Owls their first double-digit lead, 31-20, with 5:08 to play in the first period. Tech held the double-digit lead for the remainder of the half, eventually leading by as many as 15 points on a Morgan Hofman trey with 29 ticks on the clock. HNU hit a jumper to close out the scoring in the half, as Tech took a 42-29 lead to the locker room.

The Owls jumped up to their first lead of 20 points or more at 63-42 with 12:22 remaining to play. The Owls would not let the Hawks close to within 18 points, as Oregon Tech would roll to the final score of 86-60.

With the loss the Hawks drop to 2-3 on the year.

The Hawks next game is Friday, November 20, 2009 at 7:30pm in Fullerton, CA.
